client Testimonials

  • Ellie has been absolutely invaluable to helping me maintain my ability to execute my job and my overall health. She is a resounding leader in her field bar none. Beyond that, she captivates an audience with her professionalism, demonstrating actual factual leadership amongst her peers and clients. Ellie maintained the utmost professionalism and constant courteous rapport through years of treatment. I have full confidence that when presented with an injury or a need, Ellie will never let me down. She’s bested that, helping me with healing and return to duties far above and beyond my expectations. Even when presented with complex symptoms or difficult personalities, Ellie is an astute student of her craft.

My true barometer of a practitioner is simple, “would I send my child/best friend to them?” For Ellie, this is the easiest decision that I would make, it would be a resounding yes everyday of the week.

  • I worked with Ellie 3-5x per month for two years, and have been pain free for 4-years now! At the time I was dealing with severe back pain, very limited mobility, and a the fear of aggravating my herniated disk. I was operating at a very high stress level, struggling to maintain a healthy fitness schedule, and hesitant to do anything that could trigger or exacerbate my back pain. Ellie's comprehensive, and whole-body approach worked well to reduce the severity of this acute pain, increase the mobility and range of motion for my entire body, and strengthen the muscles all around my back to allow me to stop worrying about tweaking or agitating the pain again. She used dry-needles, manipulation, stretching, weights, resistance, and cardio training all in a combined approach to get me back to a healthy body.

Her expertise and deep knowledge helps her supervise lifts with great attention to detail, and her corrections on movement techniques really make a huge difference! The best part about working with Ellie is her compassionate and caring approach. She is able to quickly and accurately figure out exactly what the source of your pain is, and she puts you at ease with a calm confidence that she can truly help, and that you will get through this with her by your side. With that foundation of trust, she embodies the definition of a coach. She holds you accountable, pushes you to your limits, recognizes success, praises achievements, and mandates restful recovery that truly allows growth over time. She has a sixth sense to see and feel what you're going through, and knows how to take you through the healing process step-by-step.

After working with Ellie, I have overcome my back pain, regained my mobility, and gained the confidence to push myself hard in the gym, because I've learned the tools to recover effectively. I now know how to identify the warning signs for potential flare-ups well before they take hold, and I have the skills to work with my body to build workout plans and movements that immediately get me back to my healthy normal. Thanks to Ellie, I know how to manage my mind-body connection, I no longer worry about my back injury, and I confidently use her guidance to optimize my health!

  • I first met Dr. Van Luit when she was working in Phoenix. I was injured while on duty as a K9 handler in a training accident. I saw Dr. Van Luit for post-operative physical therapy. Despite a prolonged and complex recovery process, I was able to return to full duty and not only resume my previous level of activity, but far exceed it.

My surgeon specifically credited Dr. Van Luit with my recovery and ultimate return to sport / return to duty. Ellie will push you and hold you accountable. She excellently balances her compassion and empathy with the tough love athletes and first responders often need. I am beyond thankful that I met Dr. Van Luit when I did, because I don’t think another DPT would have pushed me as hard as I needed to recover.

Through her I adopted one of my favorite mantras that I’ve used in races ever since my treatment with her: “Choose your hard.” Dr. Van Luit won’t be the doctor or coach to take it easy on you, but if you’re willing to do the hard work, you won’t find a better coach or DPT.

  • Ellie helped me transform my life after suffering from lower back pain for over a decade! Driving, flying, and exercising were always sure to cause a flare-up of my sciatica. No amount of stretching or rest would make it better. Ellie helped me STRENGTHEN my body and showed me that my problem wasn’t that I needed to rest, but rather that I needed to work on strengthening muscles that I had ignored.

Within six weeks I was noticing significant improvement, and three months later I was lifting more weight and running faster than I ever thought possible. Best of all, I was pain-free, and 2.5 years later, I’m still enjoying the same happiness!

  • Ellie provided me with much overdue assistance with pains in my neck and shoulder due to many years flying fighter aircraft. After some hesitancy, and at the end of my career, I asked for her help with some nagging pains that limited my ability to both do my job and get quality rest at night.

She provided diagnosis, treatments, preventative techniques, and long-term exercises that allowed me heal from chronic pains, as well as overcome a shoulder injury without surgery. In addition to her outstanding knowledge of physical therapy and how to help clients of a wide age range, her ability to make her patients/clients feel at ease, explain the treatments and enhance the healing process was outstanding.

My own hesitancy to seek help was quickly erased as she found a way to prove the effectiveness of the treatments. I highly recommend her to anyone looking to improve their fitness, get physical therapy for injuries or conditions, or train for long-term health benefits.

  • Five years ago, the effects of high-G flying really started to take their toll on my quality of life. My Air Force career had left me with significant neck and lower back pain—debilitating flare-ups every other month, sidelining me for days on end and grounding me from flights for up to a week at a time. The frustration was crushing; I'd stare at the ceiling, convinced my days in the air were numbered, wondering how much longer I could push through and how these injuries would alter my life years after retirement. As soon as I connected with Dr Ellie everything shifted.

Ellie isn't just an expert in her field—she's lived it. Fit and active herself, she's navigated her own share of injuries, which made her empathy hit different. From our first session, her compassion shone through; she didn't just assess my pain, she listened to the mental toll it took, the setbacks that left me doubting my resilience. She recognized my frustrations and coached me not just on the physical rehab—targeted mobility drills, strengthening protocols tailored to my aviation demands—but also on the mental game, building the grit to stay consistent.

Her passion for personalized care was resounding and unmistakable. While at Luke Air Force Base, Ellie went above and beyond expectations. Once word spread that she was the pinnacle of PT care on base, she welcomed clients beyond her normal caseload. She even carved out time outside regular hours to provide emergent care when needed.

Additionally, Ellie possesses unmatched qualifications and a deep familiarity with the VA process. She understands the disability claims system and ensures every session note is airtight. This enabled me to submit impeccable records to Veterans Affairs when it was time to apply for my rating.

Thanks to Ellie, I'm not just managing—I'm thriving, years beyond what I thought my body would allow. Her approach drastically cut my flare-ups and slashed recovery time from days to hours. I went from dreading the next episode to flying missions without a hitch.

  • It was obvious from my first interaction with Ellie that she is not only incredibly knowledgeable, but incredibly passionate about ensuring I perform at my best for as long as possible.

PT’s that give you a fix for an ailment are a dime a dozen. What makes Ellie different is she wants to make you better in terms of performance while increasing your tolerance for future demands.

Her expertise in rehab and human performance make her the perfect professional for the tactical environment where individuals want to both feel better and perform better.

  • I worked with Ellie after tearing my right pectoral while bench pressing. The moment it happened my only thought was how long this was going to keep me out of the jet, and the horror stories I have heard about the recovery from this type of injury.

I saw Ellie the very next day and we immediately started the recovery process. We worked 2-3 times a week for the better part of a year. I am no stranger to physical therapy. I have worked with multiple PTs over the years due to a variety of injuries. Ellie is, by a large margin, the best I have ever worked with.

She utilized multiple techniques and approaches that quickly started delivering results. During the PT sessions, she was not just a top-tier professional, but was incredibly encouraging and reassuring. The sessions, as difficult as they were, were enjoyable due to her compassionate personality and demeanor. Outside of the in-person sessions, she kept in constant contact to ensure the healing process continued. She was always happy to answer questions I had, give professional advice, and I never felt alone during the road to recovery.

After 9 months I went from being unable to shut a door without massive pain, to recovering 79-90% of my total strength without surgical intervention. My total time out of the jet was 5 days. I credit Ellie with not just keeping my career on track, but giving me my quality of life back. Anyone who has the opportunity to be her patient is working with nothing short of the absolute best.
